When2Meet and Doodle are the two names most people know, and they work differently. When2Meet is a free drag-and-drop availability grid with ads and no calendar sync. Doodle presents a list of candidate times, connects a calendar, and limits its free tier to one group poll while showing ads to your invitees. Neither is clearly better; they suit different meetings.

Which one should I pick?
Pick When2Meet when you do not yet know which times are plausible and want to see the whole shape of everyone's fortnight. The grid is better at discovery. It is also better for large groups, because thirty people painting a grid is readable while thirty people ticking twelve checkboxes is a wall.
Pick Doodle when you already have three or four candidate times and want a clean tally, or when you need the surrounding features: reminders, deadlines, booking pages, sign-up sheets. If you are already paying for a seat, Doodle is the more complete product by a distance.

What is the gap both of them leave?
Neither lets participants import their own calendars. Doodle connects the organizer's calendar, which helps the organizer and does nothing for the other ten people. When2Meet connects nothing at all. So in both tools, most of your group is reconstructing their week from memory, which is where scheduling conflicts come from.
That gap is the reason the newer tools in this category exist. For open-ended availability discovery across a large group, yes. For a short list of candidate times plus reminders, deadlines and booking pages, Doodle is the fuller product. They are different tools rather than better and worse versions of one tool.

Does either one sync with my calendar?

Which handles time zones better?
Doodle's conversion is more reliable. When2Meet converts correctly in specific-dates mode but is weaker in days-of-the-week mode, where recurring weekdays have no fixed offset.
